Issue

Some programs that make background memory calls on a PC create fatal errors and force TDT software, such as OpenEx or RPvdsEx, to shutdown.

Error Message: The TDT application may or may not give an error message, such as: The RPC server is unavailable.

Problem Behavior: Software crashes.

Known program conflicts:

  1. HP Security Manager (Tech Note #0908)

  2. CrashPlan Backup Software on Windows 7

  3. Dell Data Protection

Solution

Remove or disable the software causing the conflict.

The Microsoft Process Explorer (found here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) can be a useful tool for determining the source of the conflict.
